Although I’ve only been a nurse for a year and a half, I’ve realized the importance of furthering my education and obtaining my master’s degree. In the future, if I do not plan to continue bedside nursing, I want to be fully prepared in my education to move on to a new career. For the past couple of months, I’ve been looking into different nursing programs that offered a Master’s Degree in Nursing as well as speaking to my colleagues about how they feel about the schools they are enrolled in. Being a nurse executive entails striving to continually improve the health of patients, families and communities, as well as upholding professional and ethical principles (NursePractionerSchools, 2020). I think it is great that you decided to further your education this early in your nursing career. In my case, I had planned to work for about 3-4 years and then further my education. Although, not being able to start as plan was due to unforeseen circumstances. At first I was unsure of what my specialization would be and since then, it has been one thing or another delaying the process such as family, work, financial issue and loss of family members. My sister who is a Walden alumnus never ceases to encourage me about starting the program and the one who is deceased was in the NP program when she passed away.  So, this is a bitter and sweet feeling for me. Providing care to those in need is something that was instilled in me at an early age. Growing up with a single mother who has sickle cell disease, I developed an early understanding for the importance of health care and the vital role nurses play in it. It was those early childhood experiences with my mother that pushed me and helped cement my desire to become a nurse. Now 10 years strong in the nursing profession, I find myself realizing more each day that the integration of technology into nursing like so many other professions is a must for patients to receive high quality, safe and cost-effective care. Majority of the equipment I have used in the emergency rooms over the years require a minimal understanding of technology and its function in relation to the task or procedure that is to be performed.
According to (Narayana Moorthi M. & Manjula R., 2018, Mobile devices, including phones and computers are becoming significant ICT tools for many activities and process of health care service delivery in both urban and rural areas, by organizations  and individuals, literates and educated. section). In my opinion, I believe that before the next decade health care technology will allow patients to receive 75% or more of their care remotely and potentially even higher now with the current pandemic of Covid-19. Due to this increased demand for health care professionals to navigate the world of technology and integrate technology in our every day lives while providing care this is why I have chosen to seek a graduate degree in nursing informatics.
Armed with my previous experience of attending Walden University for my BSN program, I know firsthand the type of online learning environment that I am facing. Walden University provides their students with the necessary tools and resources to overcome many challenges that arise as you build a road map for academic success. Over the years, since I graduated from Walden, I have gained an even greater appreciation for its mission statement and the ways that I have seamlessly woven this philosophy into my everyday nursing practice. Throughout the test role out of Covid-19 and the testing process I collaborated constantly with my department leadership, physicians, as well as our nurse educator to stay informed with the latest evidence-based practices for administering the test. As a whole the hospital really worked on involving the nursing staff in the decision-making process and offering us the latitude to speak up and initiate how the changes affect the care of our patients and their potential risk to all health care professionals throughout the organization. In an article writing by(Sanders, 2018, These professionals perform varying combinations of three roles: research, teaching and applied field work.  My name is K and I currently am a staff nurse in a medical intensive care and coronary care unit in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before graduating from nursing school, I worked as a nursing assistant and a Licensed Practical Nurse. I have worked as a bedside nurse in critical care, med-surg, radiology, and the cath-lab. In the process, I discovered my love for teaching. Whether it was precepting a new graduate or championing new policies and teaching staff nurses how to implement them, having knowledgeable nurse educators is essential to the nursing profession.
I graduated with my BSN from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2017. I knew I wanted to pursue a post-graduate degree, but was unsure how I would be able to work full-time while doing it.  After speaking with a co-worker, who recently graduated from Walden, I knew this would be the best fit for my vision for myself and my future career goals.  Walden is devoted to helping students balance their education with their personal and professional lives (Walden, 2020a). This affords me to further my education at a pace that works with, not against, my work and family life.
I aim to achieve the vision that Walden sets forth, specifically advancing the greater good(2020a).  As a nurse educator, I have the patience, understanding, and knowledge to be an effective educator and be an agent of positive social change (2020a) for nurses, nursing students, and the communities that I am a part of.   Stys (2008) stated “most everyone believes that working or social justice is a noble undertaking, but nurses can do better to educate themselves, their peers, and their students about what social justice requires of nurses as health care leaders and educators.”(p.368).
Another way I plan to utilize my degree is to serve the role as a community health nurse. Sometimes access to care is not the problem, lack of knowledge is.  In my opinion, community health nursing can be the first line of defense for many patients, many whom don’t even have a primary physician. I put on a yearly health far at my church in which we check blood pressure, glucose, perform rapid HIV tests, and talk to members of our community about the importance of taking care of themselves. Hello everyone, my name is Chioma Onuoha. I am married with five kids. My focus in the MSN program is family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). I have been a registered nurse for more than ten years. And during those years, I have worked both in hospital, nursing homes and in people’s homes.  I have been at the bedside providing holistic care to individuals and their families. Having worked in different capacity for that long, I believe that it’s about time that I advance my nursing career.
In the current time period of DNA genome sequencing, and other perimeter of research efforts that focuses heavily on the mastery of the human anatomy at an infinitesimal level, it is my utmost belief that the future of health care lies within the beck and call of the health care providers that have clasped the dividends of exploration and transformation. It was based on this hypothesis, that I started searching for a graduate nursing school that will train me to be able to conduct an in-depth research to ascertain the overall patient outcomes when health care providers adjust and employ new research initiatives in the treatment of the patient. I reached a verdict that Walden MSN program will prepare me for this mission because her outcomes and perspectives relates to my professional and academic goal of becoming a scholar-practitioner. Great post!  Networking has endless benefits and you touched on some excellent examples in your post! As you stated, networking is important in creating positive patient outcomes. As nurses we dedicate ourselves to lifelong learning, to ensure we provide the best quality of care and the best patient outcomes. We do this by staying informed and being a part of ongoing developments, in evidence-based practice.  By networking with healthcare professionals in various specialties, we are presented with information, that makes us examine patient care on a broader scale, than we would normally view it. It also presents insight into how healthcare is changing, overall. Together, this introduces fresh ideas and better patient outcomes. 
The benefits of networking on academic success, was another key point you touched on. Networking allows you to establish relationships with like-minded people, that can offer not only advice but support as well. As working adults, on a quest to obtain a higher degree and become scholarly-practitioners, we may face obstacles along our journey. These obstacles may cause various levels of stress. Ensuring you have a good support system, can help you to be more productive and decrease the level of stress you are experiencing (Schmidt, n.d.). Networking provides the opportunity to connect with professionals in the specialty you have interest in and gain insight from the knowledge and skills they have. The professionals you network with can also be valuable assets when you begin to look for a job in your new career. My Success
My name Andrea Clarke-Uter, I am registered nurse for six years and presently working full time in Behavioral Health for over three years. The experience I gained during that time has fundamentally increased my knowledge, skills and equipped me with the tools to help others with mental health disorders. I grew up in a society where Mental health was stigmatized and the mentally challenged were marginalized. Which caused me to be afraid of persons with mental health disorders, until I got an insight of what mental health disorder was during my third year at nursing school. I was consumed with compassion for the mentally challenged in our society even though I was still physically afraid of them.
I conquered my fears after working in the psychiatry department and see the smile on the faces of clients and their families when they are stabilized upon discharge. The joy I feel of knowing that I was apart of that treatment team is priceless. That was when I realized I wanted to do more in the fight to put an end to the stigma placed on the mentally challenged population on our society. To make that dream a reality I need to learn more by earning a master’s degree in Nursing.

As a health care professional seeking to advance my nursing career, I realized that the Master of Science degree in nursing (MSN) programs Walden University offered varies.  Which also “prepares students to focus their practice on the identified health needs of society” (Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) n.d). One of which is the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program (PMHNP) which “is an advanced practice registered nurse trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. PMHNPs diagnose, conduct therapy, and prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders, or substance abuse problems”.
